FAQs

How are we different?

Dr. Henning is Board Certified in Dermatology. This is an important distinction from many of the other "Dermatology practitioners" in the area. Most dermatology practices in the area employ Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners or Physicians not Board Certified in Dermatology. These extenders do not have the extensive training or experience that Board Certification in Dermatology brings. When you schedule an appointment with us you will see Dr. Henning.

What is Board Certification mean?

Only physicians who complete an internship and 3 years of specialized training in dermatology may apply to take the board certification exam. Only those who pass the exam and who maintain their education may be a board certified Dermatologist.

What Does FAAD mean?

Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. This is only given to US trained physicians who are Board Certified and Participate in Maintenance of Certification.

What is a DO?

A DO is a Doctor or Osteopathy. They attend medical school for years just like an MD however they take additional courses in holistic medicine. DO and MD both take the same certification exams and train in the same residency programs.

What is the difference between a PA and a NP?

When it comes to dermatology, not much. Currently, either will have only 3 months of formal training and the rest will be "on the job". Be careful when choosing your provider.

Does Dr. Henning see children?

Yes, Dr. Henning sees patients from 1 week to 100 years old. Nearly 40% of his practice is people under the age of 18.

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma. this is a procedure that can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions including hair loss and chronic wounds. the procedure involves drawing the patients blood, spinning it down to separate the cells from the plasma. Then the plasma is injected back into the affected area. This is a cosmetic procedure, if you are interested call us to schedule a consultation.

Dr. Henning specializes in Medical Dermatology with a special emphasis on psoriasis, Chronic Urticaria and skin cancer detection.
